There is much talk lately regarding astrological retrogrades and the 5 planets involved, including Mars, Pluto, Neptune, Saturn and Jupiter. The fact that some of this energy will be around until next year, led me to reading up on the potential negative effects, but also the metaphysical power of the retrogrades.
As an empath, I am particularly drawn to Chiron, a comet about which I was woefully uniformed in the past. If you are an empath (even if you are usually not paying close attention) it is worthwhile looking in into the role of this comet in your everyday life.
Apparently Chiron was named after a centaur Chiron from Greek mythology. Chiron is known as the wounded healer in astrology or metaphysics. He was the god of healing… but was unable to heal himself. He is epitomized by the concept of ‘healer heal thyself.’
Empaths at their core are all healers, but more often than not all of that wonderful empathic energy is never utilized for self-healing or personal growth. The first thing an empath or healer usually notices is another’s pain, or negative energy, and whoosh….they are sucked in… and off and running!
Chiron’s place in the birthchart shows a deep and early wound which cannot heal…Planetary transits to Chiron in our chart can open up that wound again and expose it to light so that it can be further healed. This can be a painful process, but also a rewarding one as we become a little more whole each time we face the past we hide from ourselves.
Empaths often wonder if what they are feeling is from themselves, or from others? Fact or fantasy? Or they spend time with someone, and they feel so much better (normally they will say so). They have clarity, feel reinforced… but what about the empath?
I’ve said before empaths are like sponges absorbing and healing the energy of others, but like any sponge, they must be ‘wrung out’. The empath must be cleansed from time to time. And this is where Chiron retrograde comes in.
The current Chiron retrograde, which lasts until January next year, opens this door in a very grounded, no-nonsense, cannot-avoid way. What we resist… will persist.
One of the powerful effects of Chiron retrograde energy is an increase in healing dreams. These are not your normal intuitive dreams, but powerful visceral dreams, most often about the past, and specifically about traumatic or unresolved parts of the past. Romantic relationships, childhood drama, regret about goals not pursued, and so forth.
It comes forward like a volcanic eruption for the empath, with very intense physical feelings attached. This is about the unresolved bits and pieces that have lodged themselves into the soul of the empath like shards of glass.
Chiron retrograde energy further gives you the ultimate opportunity to heal yourself. You will be able to access and release emotional and spiritual wounds, whether the wounds are from your childhood, a past relationship, self-inflicted, or those you have picked up from others and helped them process, but have held onto in your own energetic field.
Nobody escapes being wounded. We all are wounded people, whether physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. The main question is not ‘How can we hide our wounds?’ so we don’t have to be embarrassed, but ‘How can we put our woundedness in the service of others?’ When our wounds cease to be a source of shame, and become a source of healing, we have become wounded healers.
In doing so Chiron will hold up a mirror that you cannot avoid in your dream state, or hover around you in an uncomfortable, but undeniable way in your waking thoughts. This provokes or evokes a sense of ‘enough already!’ Time to be done with this once and for all. No more identity crisis, or thinking you are crazy, or why do you always wind up with the short end of the stick in a relationship?
I read that that this wonderful energy transitioned into Aries in April of this year and will stay there until April 2027. What a fabulous emotional, spiritual detox for everyone! Vision is crisp, the air is clear, and a deep breath can be taken by the empath. The benefits for the empath are total clarity and peace with the past.
All the sharp pieces hiding in the sensitive heart are released so the heart opens with confidence. Most of all your perception becomes laser like, so that when you share with others, or are healing, helping the energy is quick, clear and painless so you are paying it forward. Time to exhale.
