How The Mars-Uranus Sextile Horoscope Will Affect Your Love Life And Relationships Until May 2020

We can only ever be who we truly are.

Mars-Uranus sextile occurred on May 22nd, with Mars in Cancer and Uranus in Taurus. This transit, as well as our love horoscope, challenges the status quo and the lives we have built, and will ask us if they align with who we really are or if we’ve only been wearing a mask.

In astrology, a sextile is when two planets are within 60 degrees of another and help one another achieve a beneficial outcome or create a positive aspect for us to explore a given issue within. While this sextile occurs on just one day, the energy of it will likely last longer, especially because the next time it occurs is in May 2020.

Mars is the planet of drive and ambition, often referred to as the god of war. This is the planet that motivates us to go after what we truly want. And in Cancer, this fiery planet isn’t completely comfortable at home.

Cancer is a water sign and extremely feminine and Mars is considered a very masculine planet. But together, they can accomplish a lot, especially in terms of having us make sure we’re going after our goals.

Cancer is a water sign that governs the Moon and represents family and our emotions. It’s a very feeling sign, and Mars is often a planet that doesn’t like to get bogged down in what his heart says because he’s got plans and doesn’t want anything to get in the way.

Yet in this situation, while Mars may still be active and wanting to forge ahead with plans, he’s only going after what he wants — not just for the moment, but long-term. And that’s thanks to the energies of Uranus we’re going to be in the thick of.

Uranus is a larger, farther-reaching planet which doesn’t change signs often, so when he does we know we’re in for a surprise or two. Back in March, he transited into Taurus for the next seven years, which means he’s still getting his footing, and we’re also still learning what this new transit means for our lives.

But Uranus himself serves something much bigger than just who we want to spend our Friday nights with; Uranus is about a revolution, change, and the surprises he can bring into our lives, changing our entire path within just one moment, one choice, and one opportunity.

The other wonderful aspect of Uranus is that it’s also the planet that represents freedom, helps connects us with who we are, and what we want from life. We may try to fool ourselves or even others about who we are, but we can never fool Uranus. And usually, his moments of shock and awe are like lightning strikes: they come swiftly and unexpectedly.

Currently, though, Uranus is in Taurus, so this isn’t about change just for the sake of change, and it’s not about messing up our lives or creating mountains out of molehills. This is about us even getting the chance to go back and correct previous choices we’ve made so we can rebuild our foundation and do better this time.

In life there, are no clear re-dos, but there are those moments where the universe brings an opportunity back around for a second time. And it’s because it’s something really meant for us.

For many, Mars sextile Uranus going to first dismantle any previous masks or roles we had taken on out of responsibility or chore. It’s not that we set out to make choices from an inauthentic space or that we wanted to not be true to ourselves, but it’s those little choices that end up creating a big situation in which we’re suddenly feeling stuck.

There are many positive aspects about this transit including us feeling more confident, being driven, decisive, feeling fun, excited and motivated for change, but it will also include some breakups along the way. This is Uranus; this is that feeling of being stifled for far too long, almost as if we were being held down underwater and couldn’t quite catch our breath, and Uranus comes in to set us free.

Heading into this transit, it’s important to be aware of how you feel in your relationship. Consider whether you’ve had to sacrifice a lot of yourself, give up things that were important to you, or even say yes to in order to keep the peace. Think about who you are and if it feels like your relationship honors that or stifles it.

Sometimes, we view breaking up as the worst possible situation, when in reality, staying in a relationship that makes us less of who we are is the worst part. Moving into this transit, it’s going to serve as the beginning of a wakeup call that maybe we are in a situation that was supposed to be a lesson instead of forever.

Because this aspect only occurs once every year approximately, it likely serves as that check-in for ourselves to make sure we’re working hard on what we’re meant to, or if we’re hiding out from life in our relationship. Yet it’s unlike we’re going to see the pinnacle of this moment until later in the year.

Not every relationship is supposed to last forever, and sometimes we need those big wake up calls to look around and see that it’s not enough to continue to fit ourselves into a life, hoping one day it will feel right.

Sometimes, we’re meant to remember who we are, choose ourselves first, and own every part of ourselves. We have to trust that if we do, life will align, and we’ll not only have the relationship we’ve always wanted, but we’ll get to be the person we’ve already dreamed of being too.
